#97 Had An Awesome Time

And an awesome conversation with Zong Han. Thanks for your advice and encouragement. And the passing on of Veron's fabled advice:

Pray more lor.

It certainly helped, because from the train ride back to home, I feel a lot more secure!

HOPE: Holding On, Praying Expectantly. :)

And the rest I leave in God's hands.

#96 Lucky!

Because I've got the time to blog so early in the morning! Today's going to be an awesome day, and I'm heading to Expo tomorrow to help out at chair arrangement!

And Matthew's heading into Tekong today! Go Matthew! Remember, it's not our gender; It's our decision that makes us a man! Choose to be a man! :)

And so the day starts...

P.S. Zong Han got into NTU's ADM! Congratulations bro! I'm so jealous! :)

#95 Awesome Tuesday!

Tomorrow's my duty day. It's no big thing, as Zong Han mentioned, because its really very slack. I'm also looking forward to next month where I will be quite free during office hours!

And the week seems to be coming to a premature end. Somehow time flies, and hours turn into seconds.

Coalesce.

It seems like everyone's either heading into or coming out of NS right now. :)

#94 On A Monday

Because I don't know what title to put.

Today I reflected on the general lack of control over my emotions. It's easy to roller-coaster and become an emo-slob and so I'm working on that now. Not turning into one, I mean.

I managed to do some cleaning at home; shifting the table and chairs and cleaning everything.

But you know, I'm kind of lonely.

Gah! My train of thought was interrupted so the only thing I could come up is the lame line above.

Just saying.

#93 Energy, Joy, An Awesome Smile!

That's what I call ideal. Had a smashing week. I'm not regretting that I don't have time for computer games either because I don't really feel like I really need them at this point in time. There's just too much to do!

But my most pressing wish right now is that I can somehow contribute to the Cell Group's unity. It seems whether in church or outside, there's just too little hope and positivity. There's so little genuineness across the media and because we're so technologically dependent... well, only one word to describe it.

Ouch!

Just last Friday, I was talking to LTA Sasi about City Harvest and all and he was asking and probing me a lot about my faith. I have to say I really don't have the answers, but deep inside me that unique, tailor-made God-experience that I felt cannot be denied. Sure, my memory may fail me (it always does thanks to my sleep problems) and it gets all dusty at the back of my head but when it comes it just hits me square...in the heart. And then I know that I know that I know that I belong here and God is doing an awesome thing here.

Being contemporary is not submitting to the world. It is matching the world, playing on a level field with God-centric principles. It's not easy and nigh impossible without His guidance but thats why its such a miracle City Harvest, i.e. we, are here.

And the level of apathy and cynicism is at an all time high around the world, but still things are moving, lives are changing. Sure, there will always be the group looking for fun over God, but we'd be playing right into despair (for lack of a better common antagonistic denominator besides using the word Devil)'s hands. If we're so afraid of doing things just because we don't want to seem hypocritical then we'd going with the flow: lambasting and criticising others on our blogs and forums all day long while not picking a finger up for anyone.

Ah well, my head's a little light; Mind over matter has come to its limit. Off to bed!

#92 Hello World

What a unique experience. And I'm not heading back unless under extenuating circumstances. :(

I'm talking about the night out at Butter Factory with the TRMC boys. The original plan was that 11 of us were going and that I'm not supposed to "fly aeroplane". But reality's another ball game. We had a grand total of 6. At that point I was thinking, 'Darn, I should have also made an excuse'. Too late though.

So I reached there with Jun Wei (he was there to meet his own group of friends for some birthday party celebration), and went on to meet my own group.

What went wrong:
I arrived relatively earlier than the time I had expected to arrive. The 4 of us (Dennis, Ming Woei, Soe Min & myself) ended up waiting 2 whole solid hours for Randell and Mark to appear. Turns out Mark spent a whole hour trying to style Randell's hair and the taxi they took dropped them off at the wrong place. Honestly speaking, I was more interesting in throw punches than dancing at that point in time.

But wait, that wasn't the worse that happened. When Randell and Mark appeared, BOTH were already drunk and high! And while Mark could somewhat control himself, I was feeling like a punching bag because Randell (his friendly slaps on the back and chest at unexpected moments threatened to make me regurgitate the squishy, mashy remains of the 3 hot dog buns I ate a few hours ago.

The sucker punching continued all through the queuing phase and I was kind of glad when we went in and got our first drink. And that was when the first casualty of the night happened.

Randell puked.

Then a guy who was obviously not straight but was near us tried to strike up a conversation with almost all the 6 of us. I guess he wasn't too interested in me (thank God!) because when I said almost, the only one who wasn't chatted up was me... yet.

And so after Randell had washed up, Dennis led us to the dance floor (and the place I almost lost my sense of hearing). He's an awesome guy; knows how to dance but does it cleanly. Very rarely do I see young, horny boys practise restraint in such an environment. It's either they dance really dirtily, or they are like wooden statues like me.

And so the not so straight guy follows us into the dance floor and after a few minutes of unsuccessfully trying to talk to my friends, he gives up, goes to me and says, "Man, your shoes are lame." (I'm wearing standard-issue army running shoes because I simply don't have anything else; donations are welcomed!)

"Why, thank you, I know," came my reply, and I think he was totally turned off (thank God again!). He never paid me another look for the rest of the night, though he continued to linger around us.

And so I checked my watch, waiting for time to pass while lamenting through SMS to Jun Wei that,"St James is better," before taking a much needed escape from the pseudo-mosh pit. What a lame excuse. :(

But really, I was clueless the whole night. =/

Briefly though, I saw Isabelle, from my vocal class and I was shocked to see her just as she was to see me. You see, I've a reputation for being a total nerd/noob when it comes to things like have fun/clubbing. And I like that. But that's all going to come crashing down. I hope no one asks me to club again though. I'd rather sit under a coconut tree pretending to be enlightened than go through that once more.

But I must admit; It was fun overall I guess, especially with Dennis and the rest. I guess it really was the company that made the difference. Oh yeah, and Soe Min is a whole new breed of cool. He doesn't dance and doesn't club. He sets a whole new trend. Rock on, bro!

P.S. Jun Wei seemed to be having fun. If only I had brought a camera. Unglam pictures galore!

#91 What A Grrrrooovy Week!

Sorry, still stone-faced after waking up. Guess it wasn't such a good idea to sleep through the drilling outside. But still, its been an awesome week before!

And thank God for the early end to this week with a Usher meet up on Thursday night at Astons (Yippee!) followed by a Friday morning Cohesion at SAFRA Yishun!

First the Usher meet up. It was a small affair with four of us and I happened to be:

1. The oldest
2. The only guy

Blatant Usher Ministry Advertisement from the bottom of my heart:
But still, there's no room for feeling weird or left out when you are with ushers; They'll always make you feel welcome! If you want to know what I mean, join Usher!

Darn I feel so lost for words. (In a good way.)

Then comes the Cohesion at SAFRA Yishun. By all accounts it was a long wait, and when I finally got my turn at the air pistol shooting, I managed a not too bad score on the Zero-ing phase (34/50; 5 shots, 10/9/7/6/2). Lucky! I even brought the target sheet home for posterity's sake!

On the actual shooting, I actually scored a 25/50. Oh well, at least all were shots-on-target. After that there were some games which I sat out, and lunch came.

Fast forward a few hours after the trip home, an early Quiet Time and here I am sitting in front of the screen.

It's been a good week. :)

P.S. Oh and a certain Jerrome's going into NS soon! See you at my unit if God permits!
